Accessing the Capped 9 Spreadsheet
Overview
The Capped 9 spreadsheet allows schools to calculate and analyse Capped 9 outcomes using their own Gradepoint data exported from Connect. Once data has been imported, the spreadsheet automatically calculates individual student scores and headline measures across key demographics.

Accessing the Capped 9 Spreadsheet
To access the Capped 9 spreadsheet, first select the Main Gradepoint you wish to analyse using the Capped 9 methodology. For guidance on selecting Gradepoints, please see this article: Gradepoint Selector
Next, in the Connect homepage navigate to the Student Analysis tile and click View Analysis.
In Student Analysis, click the Capped 9 button to download a blank copy of the Capped 9 spreadsheet.
Then download your Student Analysis by clicking the Download Excel button to download a spreadsheet containing all student records from your main Gradepoint.
Save the file with a name of your choosing.
Importing Data into the Capped 9 Spreadsheet
Follow the steps below to import your student data into the Capped 9 spreadsheet.
Open the Student Analysis Excel file you downloaded from Connect and navigate to the SPO – Grid Format sheet.
Select and copy the entire contents of the SPO – Grid Format sheet, including the column headers. An easy way to do this it to click in the sheet, press Ctrl-A and then Ctrl-C to copy the entire contents of the sheet.
Open the blank Capped 9 spreadsheet, then:
Navigate to the Raw Gradepoint sheet.
Click on cell A1 (Student ID).
Right-click and select Paste Values to paste the copied data.

Allow ~30 seconds for the data to import and formulas to update. The exact time will depend on the number of student records included.
Viewing Capped 9 Results
Once the import is complete, you can review the Capped 9 analysis using the following sheets:
Results Sheet
Displays each individual student’s:
Literacy slot
Numeracy slot
Science slot
Other six slots
Total Capped 9 score
Dashboard Sheet
Shows average Capped 9 scores across different demographics, such as:
All students
Females/Males
eFSM students
Other defined groups
Notes and Troubleshooting
Always use Paste Values when importing data to avoid formatting or formula issues.
Do not edit formulas on calculated sheets, as this may affect results.
If figures do not appear immediately, allow additional time for Excel to finish recalculating.
This spreadsheet has been developed for current Year 11 students (25-26), Year 10 subjects have not been included in the spreadsheet.
