2024 Alps customer benchmarks - What you need to know UPDATE OCTOBER 2024

Update 29 October 2024

We have now concluded our Alps Provider benchmarking from the Summer 2024 results based on the data submitted to Alps. Each successive qualification benchmark has been released into Connect and Summit in line with our published timeline.  We are delighted that so many colleagues have let us know how powerful these have been for analysis of outcomes from the 2024 examinations, given that the value-added picture is again unique, particularly for A levels.

Headlines:
1. A level England - unique context of the 2024 outcomes and baseline means that we recommend using the Alps Provider benchmark for examination analysis. The average uplift in QI grade from 2019 to 2024 benchmarks was 1.35 grades.
2. A level Wales - unique context of the 2024 outcomes and baseline means that we recommend using the Alps Provider benchmark for examination analysis.
3. Vocational KS5 England
       a. the value-added picture is less conclusive across many vocational qualification types. This is particularly true of the BTEC and Cam Tecs, where the difference between the 2019 DfE and 2024 Alps Provider datasets is minimal.
       b. we have been unable to create an Alps Provider benchmark for the T levels
       c. this year we have generated and published benchmarks for UAL, WJEC, EPQ and Level 3 Core Maths.
4. KS4 England - we will not add a KS4 England Provider Benchmark to Connect or Summit for examination results 2024
