Overview
We're excited to announce that from 6th July 2026 Alps Summit will include a dedicated KS4 Performance Measures zone, giving MAT leaders, local authorities, and groups a single place to review key KS4 accountability metrics for each of their schools, without needing to log in to each individual Alps Connect account.
For MATs, this new area is available for both exam results data and monitoring data, making it a valuable tool throughout the academic year, not just at results time.
Please note: we will be releasing a Provider Level Summary page that gives a group level overview of KS4 accountability metrics. This will be available from 31st July 2026.
To access the analysis, from the Summit homepage select your Gradepoint Trend and click in the Individual Providers area, located in the KS4 Performance Measures zone:
Switching Between Schools
At the top of the page you will see the name of the currently selected school. Use the dropdown chevron next to the school name to switch between any school in your group or MAT. This allows you to quickly compare performance data across providers without leaving the page.
Applying Comparisons and Filters
Use the comparisons dropdown to select a comparison group (Gender, EAL, Disadvantage, SEND), for the data displayed. Once you have selected your comparison, click Apply to update the graphs on the page.
Understanding the Metrics
The KS4 Performance Measures page is organised into four clearly labelled sections, each covering a distinct area of the government accountability framework.
Attainment 8
The Attainment 8 tile shows the students included and the Attainment 8 score for the selected school.
Attainment 8 measures the average achievement of pupils across eight GCSEs, including English, Mathematics, three EBacc subjects, and three further qualifications. A higher score indicates stronger overall attainment across the cohort.
English and Maths Grade 5+
The English and Maths Grade 5+ tile shows:
- The number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics
- The percentage of students achieving this threshold
Progress 8
The Progress 8 tile shows:
- The number of students included in the Progress 8 calculation
- The school's Progress 8 score
- The confidence interval range (lower and upper bounds)
- The national Progress 8 banding (e.g. Well Above Average, Above Average, Average, Below Average, Well Below Average)
Progress 8 measures how much progress pupils make between the end of primary school (Key Stage 2) and the end of Key Stage 4, relative to pupils with similar prior attainment nationally. A score above 0 indicates pupils are making more progress than expected; a score below 0 indicates less.
The confidence interval indicates the range within which the school's 'true' Progress 8 score is likely to fall. Where the confidence interval does not cross zero, the score is considered statistically significant.
EBacc
The EBacc tile shows five metrics:
- The number of pupils entered for the full EBacc suite of subjects
- The percentage of pupils entered for the EBacc
- The percentage of pupils achieving a Grade 4 or above across all EBacc subjects
- The percentage of pupils achieving a Grade 5 or above across all EBacc subjects
The EBacc comprises English, Mathematics, Sciences, a Humanities subject (History or Geography), and a Language.
Gradepoint Trend Comparison
Below the headline metrics are graphs comparing the different gradepoints in the selected Summit trend, across all four headline measures: Attainment 8, EBacc APS, percentage English/Maths Grade 5+, and Progress 8.
The Progress 8 chart includes confidence interval visualisation, so you can see at a glance whether the school's score has shifted significantly between exam results or monitoring data.
Summary Profile Table
A Summary Profile table beneath the charts presents a side-by-side comparison of the gradepoints in the selected Summit trend for each key metric:
- Total number of students
- Attainment 8
- Progress 8
- English and Maths Grade 5+ %
- EBacc APS
- % Entering EBacc
This table is particularly useful for quickly identifying whether performance has remained stable, improved, or declined between different sets of exam results or monitoring data.
FAQs
Which schools appear in the dropdown?
All schools linked to your group or MAT in Alps Summit will appear in the school switcher dropdown. If a school is missing, please contact support@alps.education.
Can I see data for all my schools at once?
The current view shows one school at a time, allowing you to review detailed metrics for each provider. We will be releasing a provider overview summary on 31st July 2026, which will show the overall metrics for the group in one page.
Why might some metrics show no data?
Metrics will only populate if the school has imported data into the relevant Summit Gradepoint (either exam results or monitoring data) and the school is using KS2 scores as the prior attainment type.
