Welcome to the third edition of The Alpinist, a half-termly support bulletin to help with common data queries at particular times of year, top tips and key updates in the Alps Connect platform. In this edition, we share an update on the release of the 2024 national data from the DfE and details on our upcoming Data Leaders Webinar.

24/02/25

What does the release of 2024 National Data mean for me?

Recently, the DfE released the 2024 national dataset, the first data drop from them since before the pandemic. In Alps Connect and Summit we offer two benchmarks at KS5, the National Benchmark and our Alps 2024 Provider Benchmark. The KS5 National Benchmark is currently uses the 2019 national dataset from the DfE and our Alps 2024 Provider Benchmark uses examination outcomes submitted to us by our Alps schools and colleges.

So, what does this release mean for Connect?

For any subjects released in the last 5 years, such as the 2019 BTECs, there is no benchmark data for them, meaning we haven't been able to provide value added analysis. With the release of the 2024 data, we hope to benchmark many of these missing subjects, particularly vocationals. However, results in 2024 were not standard in terms of value added, since year 13 students had elevated GCSE scores during the pandemic.

Our Data Team are currently analysing the national data and ascertaining what we can offer for new subject benchmarks, and how this data can be used in the platform. We will keep our customers updated in the coming months and share our release schedule.

In the meantime, if you'd like support with toggling to the Provider or National Benchmarks, follow this guide. Or, to read more on our existing benchmarks, follow the link below:
