Preparing Data
To import monitoring data into Alps Ascent, you will need to prepare a .csv file structured as follows: one column for Student ID, then one column per Subject. Each row should represent one student and their grade/performance in each subject for that Gradepoint. The cells should be populated with the score mappings that your school uses at KS3 to assess attainment such as ‘Working beyond’, ‘Working at’, ‘Working towards’ etc.
To access our Gradepoint template file, navigate to the Data Management tab, select Gradepoints and click the Template File button to download.
Example Gradepoint Files
Below are two example of Gradepoint files:
Uploading Gradepoint Files
To import your Gradepoint file, navigate to Gradepoints in Data Management and click Upload File. In step 1 of the import page, select the academic year and year group, then click next:
In step 2, select your Effective On date. This will be displayed as the Gradepoint's name across Ascent, it can be a date in the past or future.
In step 3, select the .csv file you wish to import and click Upload. The file will be validated and a green notification will appear when uploaded successfully:
Fixing Errors
If any errors are identified in the import validation, e.g. a duplicate Student ID or a Student ID that has not been import in your Student File, an alert will appear. To see what the error is, click View Issues
This will open the errors page which identifies the error found and which row of the file it is located on:
To fix errors, you can delete the Gradepoint file and reimport the corrected file.
