What is Subject Analysis?
Subject Analysis allows you to look at your Alps Analysis for your selected Gradepoint across each of your subjects, either individually or in totality. You can watch the below video guide for a tour of Subject Analysis.
Accessing Subject Analysis
From the Connect homepage you can access Subject Analysis in one of two ways, the first is to click View All which will take you straight to the overall overview. The second is by pressing Choose, this will open a drop down menu with a list of subjects in the Gradepoint, you can use the search bar to find the one you are looking for.
Curriculum Overview
By clicking view all you will see all of your subjects and their Alps Analysis for up to four Gradepoints. You can use the filter drop downs to filter by qualification type, and by student data.
The Apply Comparisons drop down allows you to quickly see analysis for an contextual data you have imported into Connect.
The Show Teaching Sets toggle allows you to see the performance of your teaching sets.
You can use all of these tools together display exactly what you are looking for.
Individual Subject Page - Overview
By using the choose subject option, or by clicking into a subject you will taken to the individual subject page, in this page you can see the analysis for the subject, split by key comparisons groups. You can also apply comparisons and filters in this page.
Below the summary table you will see a breakdown of your teaching sets and teachers, if you have uploaded these for your cohort.
You can apply comparison groups, apply filters and click into your teaching sets to show the analysis just for that class.
Individual Subject Page - Attainment
The Attainment page will give you your grade distribution profile for the select subject in a graph and tabular format, you can use the drop down menu to apply comparisons or change which Gradepoint you wish to compare against the main in the table view. You can use the drop down to change the comparison Gradepoint in the table and apply any comparison groups.
Individual Subject Page - Students, How do I & What If
In the Students Page you can see a list of all of your students in the main Gradepoint, their MEG, Personalised target and Grade along with other information such as the Prior Attainment, name and gender of the student.
On the thermometer you can drag and drop the widget on the left to see what changes need to happen to achieve a certain Alps Grade.
Turning on the What If tool allows you to make changes to a students grade, and see the impact that will have on the Alps Grade on the thermometer.
The Adhoc Groups tool allows you to isolate or exclude certain students from the Value Added analysis by giving them colour coded groups.
You can combine all of these tools together, along with filters and comparison groups to look at exactly what you want to see.
Individual Subject Page - Outcomes
The Outcomes page gives a breakdown of the students in each Prior Attainment band, their expected points and the actual points achieved. It also includes the calculation used to produce the Alps Score. Like the other pages in Subject Analysis you can apply filters and comparison groups.
Individual Subject Page - Trends
In the trends page you can see a trend line for each student, based on the selected Gradepoints. There is also a sortable difference column, which compares your main Gradepoint against the comparison selected in the drop down.
Individual Subject Page - Fine Grades
The Fine Grades tool allows you to adjust the amount of your fine grades that will go up or down, by adjusting the sliders. In the example below 20% of the grades have gone up by one, resulting in the Alps Grade going from a 4 to a 3.
