International Baccalaureate Section in Connect - September 2024

We are delighted to announce the arrival of the International Baccalaureate Analysis Zone in Connect.

The new IB zone has been developed using the IB Diploma Programme Statistical Bulletin. The metrics covered in the IB area are designed to replicate many of those published in the Bulletin and allow you to analyse key aspects of your IB outcomes for examination results or for in-year tracking.
Our Connect platform already allows you to track progress outcomes at subject level against our unique thermometers, and this new area will compliment the value-added analysis with attainment metrics.

The new IB zone is available within your existing KS5 Connect subscription. Simply upload your IB results or monitoring data to begin analysing your outcomes.
Note that in order for the IB headlines to accurately reflect your outcomes, you will need to upload individual grades for the Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay.

The IB zone covers the following headline measures:
  1. Diploma Qualification Overview
    1. Pass rate
    2. Mean Subject Grade
    3. Mean Total Points
    4. A gap analysis for key performance groups - gender, disadvantaged, EAL and SEND
  2. Subject Attainment
    1. Cumulative attainment percentages and student count across each subject
    2. Grade distribution percentages and student count across each subject
    3. A gap analysis for key performance groups - gender, disadvantaged, EAL and SEND
  3. Subject Area Distribution - Attainment
    1. Cumulative attainment percentages and student count across each subject area
    2. Grade distribution percentages and student count across each subject area

  4. Student Level Metrics

      1. whether or not they are passing the IB

      3. Core points
      4. Mean subject grade

In the video below, we take you through the key features of the IB area.

Alternatively, the narrative below shows some images of the type of analysis you can see in the platform.

  1. Diploma Overview
    1. Graphs will show you at a glance the headline metrics for a given gradepoint or series of gradepoints

    2. Headline Measure tables which are exportable to excel

    3. All headline metrics can be analysed by key performance groups, eg gender, allowing you to determine gaps in performance

  2. Subject Attainment
    1. Track the attainment of individual subjects in one easy to view table. Subject attainment is shown for cumulative percentages, eg 7-5, and for individual grades, eg grade 7

    2. Tables can be displayed by percentage (above) or by count of students

  3. Subject Area Distribution shows the cumulative percentages for attainment metrics across your six subject areas allowing you to determine strengths and areas for development.

  4. Student level
    1. Selection of the student level tab will display all students in a given year group/gradepoint and their headline metrics

    2. The table is exportable to excel
  5. Data upload
    1. You will need to map and upload the individual grades for Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay per gradepoint.
    2. This does mean that you will be able to track these subjects within Connect
    3. There are no value-added thermometers for these subjects, but if you head into the subject pages, the trends tab will allow you to track grade differences over time. Here you can see two gradepoints, Sept and Nov, and the Teacher derived personalised target.
