Editing Student Data

Editing Student Data

If you need to edit your existing Student Data, you can do so by either editing individual students or uploading data in bulk. For example, you may wish to edit individual data if a student has left your college/school, or you could do a bulk upload if you wanted to update multiple teaching sets.

Please note if you are using our MIS integration, any edits made to student data in your MIS system will automatically update your data in Connect. If you edit data in Connect, without editing your MIS, your changes will be overwritten when your MIS re-syncs.

Deleting students, individually or in bulk, will remove all instances of that student from Connect Data, including Teaching Data, Personalised Targets, and any Grades Data. If a deleted student was included in any previous Gradepoints, you will also need to republish them to update the data.

Editing Individual Students

Please watch our video guide, or see our step by step guide below:

To edit individual students, from the homepage navigate to the Data Management tab and select Students from the menu.

This will take you to the Students screen, where you can find the relevant student you wish to edit and press the Pencil Icon next to their record.

After clicking the Pencil Iconthe Edit Student page will open, as picture below. From this page you can amend or add Student Information, as well as change tabs to edit Prior Attainment and Subject Information.

After making changes, press Save. Please note if the student is included in any Gradepoints, these will need to be republished to update them.

Bulk Updating Student Data

When editing Student Data in bulk, there are two options:
  1. Overwrite & Replace - the data in this import will overwrite your existing data. Any existing data will be deleted as a result.
  2. Update & Merge - the data in this import will be merged with your existing data. This means that existing data not included in this import will be preserved.
Please watch our video guides for these options below, or see our guide underneath:

Following the steps at the start of this article, navigate to the Students screen, then click into the year group you wish to edit. On the right side of the screen, press the Import Additional Data button:

The Update Students window will appear and you can select whether you are wanting to Update and Merge, or Overwrite and Replace your data. Then select the orange Student Data button.

The Student Data wizard will appear and you can work through the steps in the wizard to upload your file. If you need any support with the import wizard, please refer to this guide: Importing Student Data

Once you have completed the import, press Finish and the last step is to republish any Gradepoints that include the students you have edited.
