Choosing a prior attainment type

Choosing a prior attainment type

We have expanded our range of prior attainment scores that can be directly imported into the system. This will better support our International schools and colleges and our schools who, due to the covid-19 pandemic, do not have prior attainment scores for certain year groups.

When you setup each Year Group for the first time, you will need to define the prior attainment type you would like to use for that Year Group. The prior attainment options available will vary depending upon the setup of your school, which is generally based upon country.

Schools and colleges in England and Jersey:
  1. Years 12 and 13: Average GCSE Score, or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
  2. Year 7 to 11: Key Stage 2 Score (including JAS), or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
    1. (MidYIS Score, converted to a CAT4 band midpoint)
    2. If you do not have an alternative to KS2 Scores, such as CAT4 or MidYIS Scores, we have created a Cohort Distribution Analysis method and spreadsheet, which should help you to put your students into Alps bands.

Welsh schools and colleges:
  1. Years 12 and 13: Average GCSE Score, or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
  2. Year 7 to 11: Welsh National Test Score, or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
    1. (MidYIS Score, converted to a CAT4 band midpoint)

International schools and colleges:
  1. Years 12 and 13: Average GCSE Score, or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
  2. Year 7 to 11: CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
    1. (MidYIS Score, converted to a CAT4 band midpoint)
    2. Some International schools may also have KS2 as an option, please disregard this and choose CAT4

Northern Irish schools and colleges:
  1. Years 13 and 14: Average GCSE Score, or CAT4 Mean Standardised Age Score
