Alps START – Start of Term Analysis, Results and Trends
Get your data to us in Results weeks for benchmarks based on 2023 Alps client data
In September 2022,
we provided schools and colleges in England with A level analysis based on data
submitted to Alps from clients. This analysis was made available through a benchmark
toggle in Connect.
This year we will be extending the client benchmark
option to include A levels in Wales. The benchmarks will be generated using data
from only Welsh schools and colleges.
The client benchmarks will be generated in response to the unique nature of examination outcomes in Summer 2023:
· Students completing their Key Stage 5 courses have elevated prior attainment baselines from CDGs in 2021. The overall standards look set to return towards 2019 levels. This will cause analysis based on the 2019 national data on Results Day to be more ‘blue’ than perhaps it is in reality.
On Results Days, the default benchmark in Connect will be the 2019 national dataset, which is the current analysis available in Connect. Your analysis at both Key Stages will initially be based on this benchmark.
The benchmark toggle option, where you can switch your analysis to view it against the Welsh client benchmark, will be available in mid-September, once the majority of Welsh schools have uploaded their data.
In order to achieve this timeline, to ensure that it is robust and to have your data included, we would ask that you submit your examination results to Connect Data by 5pm on Friday 25 August.
Our Alps Champions webinar across the Summer Term will provide more detail on the benchmark timeline and educational context. Book at https://alps.education/alps-training-hub/alps-champions-webinar-programme/
