Alps Customer Benchmarks – Start of Term Analysis, Results and Trends

Get your data to us in Results weeks for benchmarks based on 2025 Alps customer data

Since September 2023, we have provided schools and colleges in Wales with A level analysis based on data submitted to Alps from our Welsh customers. This analysis was made available through a benchmark toggle in Connect.

These benchmarks were generated using data from only Welsh schools and colleges.

The customer benchmarks were generated in response to the unique nature of examination outcomes resulting from pandemic disruption.

The situation for examination outcomes for Key Stage 5 is again set to be unique this summer:

  • In Wales
    • students completing their Key Stage 5 courses have elevated prior attainment baselines from the Key Stage 4 outcomes in 2023.
    • The overall outcome standards are likely to be in line with 2024 outcomes.
    • The value-added picture will again be unique in 2025 based on the elevated baseline.

Summary

  • Analysis of our customer benchmark for 2024 against the 2024 national data showed a high degree of correlation at KS5
  • Our customer benchmark is therefore the most representative benchmark for the 2025 outcomes in Wales on which to base your improvement priorities.

Default benchmarks for Results Days

All Key Stage 5 qualifications: On Results Day, the default benchmark in Connect and Summit will be the 2019 national dataset. Your analysis for Key Stage 5 qualifications will be based on this benchmark.

Timeline for publication of the Alps Customer Benchmarks for 2025

A level: In Connect and Summit by 8 September 2025
WJEC L3: In Connect and Summit by 12 September 2025

The benchmark toggle option, where you can switch your analysis to view it against the Welsh client benchmark, will be available in mid-September, once the majority of Welsh schools have uploaded their data.

In order to achieve this timeline, to ensure that it is robust and to have your data included, we would ask that you submit your examination results to Connect Data by 5pm on Friday 29 August.

Our Alps Champions webinar across the Summer Term will provide more detail on the benchmark timeline and educational context. Book at https://alps.education/alps-training-hub/alps-champions-webinar-programme/
