support@alps.education What is an API?
If you are an Arbor user, you can now integrate your Student Data and Teaching Data with Alps, using our API integration. An API is a connection that can be used to connect applications, either through a one way integration or both ways. The Alps-Arbor API is a one way integration, which feeds data from Arbor into Alps and updates in both platforms when you make changes in Arbor. The integration will significantly reduce the amount of manual uploads required and ensure your Alps data matches Arbor.
Please follow the steps below to set up your integration. If you have any questions about Arbor integration, please email

Video Guide
Step 1: Approve the Alps Connect App in Abor
In Arbor, navigate to System, then select Partner Apps (API Users), then select Pending Requests. There will be a request from Alps Connect, click into that row and a slide over will appear showing the permissions we request. At the end of the list, click Approve.
Step 2: Register your School
After approving, you can log into Alps Connect and navigate to the MIS Integration page, accessible via the Data Management tab:
In the MIS Integration page, select Arbor in the drop down menu and enter your Arbor URL in the Domain Name textbox. (This usually takes the form
https://your-school-name.uk.arbor.sc)
Step 3: Select Year Groups
Once registered, the Year Groups tab will appear. Select the Prior Attainment type for each of the year groups you wish to import and press Import Year Groups.
Once the sync has happened, the Last Sync box will turn green and a green tick will appear next to the synced year groups:
Step 4: Ethnicity Mapping
After your year groups have synced, the mapping tabs will appear. Select the Ethnicity Mapping tab and a list of all your ethnicity codes will appear. Codes in red need mapping to an Alps ethnicity value, which can be done via the edit pencil and drop down box. After selecting a value, press the tick and the line will turn yellow.
When you have completed the mappings, press Save.
Step 5: SEND Mapping
Navigate to the SEND Mapping tab and like above, map any red SEND values to an Alps SEND value using the edit pencil and dop down.
Once all have been mapped, press Save.
Step 6: Subject Mapping
Navigate to the Subject Mapping tab, and a list of all your imported subject names will appear. Click the edit icon and a drop down box will appear with the Alps subject names, select the relevant subject mapping and then click the tick. You can use the year buttons above the list to filter by year group. Go through the list and map all red subjects.
If you have any subjects that are not assessed, e.g. PSHE or Study Time, these can be removed by clicking the bin icon.
If you have any subjects that contain two different qualifications, for example English but you do both literature and language, you can duplicate subject values by pressing the duplicate icon and map them to the separate qualifications.
Selecting the subject type in the drop down filters the list by subject type:
Step 7: Import Prior Attainment
Once you have synced your year groups and completed the mappings, navigate to the Cohorts page. The synced year groups will appear with a green tick next to them. The final step is to import your Prior Attainment data, via the
Add Data link. Guides on uploading Prior Attainment can be found here:
